Indian warship in Lagos on a flag showing visit

INS TUSHIL, the Indian Navy’s stealth frigate, has arrived in Lagos as part of her flag showing visit to Nigeria.

Her arrival is to, strengthen the deep maritime bond between India and Nigeria.

Welcomed by the Flag Officer Commanding (FOC), Western Naval Command, Rear Admiral Michael Oamen.

During it’s stay in Nigerian waters, the ship will engage in official, professional, and social interactions.

As part of it’s outlined programmes, the ship hosted Admiral Oamen and other dignitaries to a Cocktail reception onboard the ship onJanuary 13, 24.

In his remarks Admiral Oamen emphasized the importance of the Nigeria – India relationship which, he said span over decades and cut across various sectors ranging from trade, industry education and military cooperation.

He conveyed the greetings from the Chief of the Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla to the ship’s Captain, Navy Captain Peter Varghese and his ship’s company.

“The visit is to cement the existing relationship between Nigeria and India. It’s a flag showing visit and during which both navies are expected to participate in joint sea exercises.

“I urge you all to take advantage of the visit to enjoy the beautiful city of Lagos” the FOC said.

Highlight of the event were entertainment of songs and dance by Indian cultural troupe. Dignitaries present on the occasion including Ms Vartika Rawat and Col Rowi Singh, Ag High Commissioner and Defense Attache of India in Nigeria respectively.
